Mexico

Number of people served: 1,064

Violence and persecution by organised crime groups force many people from countries such as Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador to seek international protection in Mexico. An estimated 8,200 registered refugees live in Mexico, in addition to hundreds of asylum applicants. Every year between 400,000 and 500,000 people transit through Mexico, and at least 150,000 of these people are in need of protection.
